Shadow Poet

Shadow poet -sleep does not come easy. Out of bed - creep across the floor, so silently as not to wake those dreaming whose buried dreams from them shall never flow. To the door, down the hall, find a light’s that low. Hurry for you know that thoughts are fleeting like this night you wish would never go. Night is all one shadow for the poet. No one knows the places that you travel - Only those like you Who unravel images while sitting in that special place alone. Pouring out your soul With every hour fleeing. That’s enough for now. You must get rest. This you do - creating - is your power, the talent god has given as your best. Wind is rattling the windows, chasing off dark shadows. Rays of sun will soon envelop earth. Come out to the daylight shining, and likewise there, let others see your worth. Nov. 11, 2015

Hello Andrea... there is no set time for inspiration to arise and when it does, it must be written or the train of thought leaves the station and can quickly fade away - nicely done Andrea - Lindsay

Awesome write Andrea....we all have felt like this shadow poet at one time or another. A line for a poem will creep into my head, just as I'm about to fall asleep, if I don't get up to write it down its gone by morning.Hugs

How well you have done here Andrea, and also have now.' got some more room in your mind for my contest piece, 'may I add? I must say I don't like the idea of it being relegated to the 'back of your mind' It may risk getting all jumbled up.' Or something LOL))) no I do trust you really' oh and a 7 for this.'

OH, Andrea...this is splendid, indeed. I really loved it. Yes, it has empowered me. I'm here at 1:21 am....unable to sleep. I know what you write of, dear. Thanks for your visit to my senryu. Can I ask a favor? Could you give me a suggestion on how to change that first line. My mind is frazzled, and I don't know how to fix it to fit the line count. I want to say something that terrorism is no respecter of place....Trying getting that into 5 syllables. Any suggestions? Hugs

Andrea is this for the Shadow contest? I have one but am afraid she won't like it because there is not enough about nature in it. I will post it later. I enjoyed the way you embrace the night as the best time for a poet to write, when it is quiet. I kind of think most of us need quiet when trying to write. I SURE do.

You talk to kindred spirits, Andie. One feels an affinity with this write. I can write during daytime but it is mostly at night when everything's quiet that I feel more creative. hugs!

Love this Andrea. I know a poet like this. I am a day poet as I have worked nights for the past two years but I find myself more creative when sleep deprived,
