Searching For Jesus

Searching for Jesus I went out to find You I started at a school I thought I would see You Holding the Golden Rule I walked down the hallways Checked every single door listened for sounds of praise But you weren't there any more I went to the Court house Surely they want You there To help a battered spouse But no one seems to care You were not welcome No more justice any more The old ways are forgotten They've pushed You out the door I went looking at the mall Because it is the season You weren't there blessing us It was Santa for some reason Maybe You were waiting Patiently for me at home My spirit started singing Surely there You would roam Upon my arrival I expected to find You there I picked up my Bible To prove how much I care At once I started to choke I couldn't stop my cough The dust it was like smoke I tried to wipe it off I'm part of the problem I don't take time to pray If I want to taste Your freedom I should talk to you each day For Caren’s 188 contest.

Richard: Well said. Christmas seems to bring out the best in all of us. :o) Bible-Apathy seems to be a growing problem with no solution in sight. I published a book of about 40 of my "religious" works no one else buys, but I keep buying them to hand out as tracts. It's cheaper than making copies of individual rhymes. :o) Keep them coming, good and faithful servant. He sees.

Thanks Buck, I appreciate you looking up this one to read. I published my book when I turned 51 (kind of a late start) It is now in second print and will probably make it to a third run. Although it isn't strictly Christian I do honor our Savior.

Richard - nice display of what happens when we don't put God first. They say most believers don't read the Bible anymore - a living connection to the Father ignored. In effect, suicide.

Wonderful! I loved the way you described Jesus and the quest to find him, but instead finding Santa. Lovely humor with a great message. Wonderfully expressed.

In some cases we are part of the problem of no prayers... We need to stand up more to the non believers "1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

I LOVED this poem, Richard! The ambient movements to find Jesus ... the quaint humor found along the way ... found Santa at the mall instead of Jesus. This is one jewel of a poem. The humanity expressed in this poem is very humbling because everyone who has went in search of Jesus has gone through what you described so well in this beautifully crafted poem. Kudos and touché. Happy New Year. May love light the path to peace for you.

Getting close to Jesus Christ- the reason for the season- is wonderful. Reading His words should always be what we do everyday.

Yes, we must all remember to keep the Bible dusted and grow closer to Jesus everyday. That way we can take him with us where ever we go. I enjoyed this very appropriate poem for the season. Merry Christmas-ing all year long.

What an apt poem about a real happening We tend to forget our maker and not relate to Him as much as we should I know for one you are not that person and that you will always know from whence you have come A brilliant poem that deserves a 7 Merry Christmas Love Mom

Richard...this resonates deeply in me. He's the forgotten One...even on the one day we are to commemorate His birth and all He means to us. Merry Christmas, dear. Wishing you every blessing imaginable. Hugs
