Resurrection Rain

Two old flames took a boat one April day out on a small lake as dark clouds formed above. The woman had a question which unanswered lay as heavy as the clouds which they took no notice of until, at last, the woman heard the truth from her old love. . . In silence they drifted, each one yearning to regain the passion lost, and then the sky spilled tears for longing’s ache. All at once, there was a ring of sweet laughter in that rain as a resurrection with the torrent came, and then, their burning bodies, drenched, rekindled the old flame. Inspired by the movie The Notebook and Francine Roberts' Spring Rain Poetry Contest

I knew you were writing about the Notebook after only reading a few lines. I loved that movie Andie. You created their story beautifully. I bet this poem write itself.

for some reason i was thinking it was 2 women in the boat. guess it could be, but probably not how you intended it. it's lovely tho, especially the 2nd stanza, and passionate. i would like to be on that boat!

Excellent stuff here! Pure beauty in every line. That's okay. It's kind of a blurry picture, anyway. I've always wanted a sphinx cat, but those little baldies are so darn expensive!!! Always, Laura

Let the rain come down on me. Let me drown in the love that comes from above. And carry us both out to sea.

The Notebook is a chick flick. James Garner is in it. If you’re looking for a heart felt, tear jerking romance, then The Notebook is the movie for you. The Notebook is a pretty good movie. It’s a not a masterful cinematic experience, but it does the job. It entertains you for two hours. A nice entry dear poetess.

you are so right. It's a sentimental chick flick but it's a really great chick flick. Myself, personally, I actually prefer something like bridesmaids or the one I just saw Five Year Anniversary, more realistic and funny as heck!

Hey "cheeky-monkey" (one of my dozen names for my girl, too), lol, I am PROUD that I actually watched something that didn't involve the ABC's or the potty training DVD... lol... and honey, old is Casablanca (sigh) which I would actually pay to see at our local art house. One of the things hub and I used to love seeing there was the world commercial awards. Funny!!! Some stunning. The critics hate RAVEN...I thought POE?! huh? Detective? We're off to church. Whatcha reading there today? LOL...

I just saw the Notebook. Your poem evokes feelings of love in a storm. The storm is life and sometimes it is quite a wicked storm. I know some things about Jewish culture and history. Recently I have been going on Fridays to a synagogue which is in a church. I often read poems there and there is usually a flute player. My spring term ends on the 11th of this month and I think I will work in the summer immersion program. Won't it be nice to have a break? People who don't teach ESL have little understanding of the field. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

The fire never went out, eh? There remained some burning embers. That rain was either champagne or lighter fluid. You be such a romantic. Love, daver
