Remembering

As the fragrance fades, of love once so deep, into the unknown, where she now weeps. Silent she stares, at what once was there, pictures, a reminder, remembering, when her children were there. Silver is her hair, her body frail, and weak, she calls their names, as the tears roll down her cheeks. Where have they gone, why don't they call, forgotten in time, trying to recall. Miles are between them, their busy days, and nights, just trying to survive, and a mother cries. Lonely she is, and lonely she will be, as she hangs their pictures, on her Christmas Tree.

Oh Christy, if you only knew how true this is for so many. I work with senior citizens and I am shocked at how their children discard them. It is a crime. So many lonely and forgotten souls. My heart cannot bear the sadness. Beautiful write. Love, Shar

Boy, this is another tear jerker, kids step on your toes when they are little then step on your heart when they are grown. But Mommas are always there to pick up the pieces. Loved this write, always, Ron

Oh my goodness, this is so sad and unfortunately, more common a story than we know. You've done a really good job with this one. BG

This is so touching Christy. I work in a Christian Assisted Living Facility & unfortunately see this all too often. Oh yes, I have written several poems about the elderly you may enjoy reading. Blessings....In His grip.....By His grace.....Janice
