Reality Bites

It wasn’t easy seeing you after all these years But it took me back to me and you A time we both did live The change in you amazed me I never would have feared The lose that I endured when it did appear I know I’m chasing fancies With ink and keys that dear I tried to win you back With that I thought was clear The love I had eternal Throughout all time to live Cold shoulders seem to block me And words I want to give Being worlds apart We had that certain thing We each would give our art In ways a heart would sing You filled a missing void That life would make a sting Without you there was nothingness You brought what happy brings But now there's all this thoughtfulness Of the end your absence means I’ll keep my distance But I want you to know this one thing Distance never kept my love From reaching the you and me And time will make you remember What it is that you now flee

Such a beautiful, heartfelt poem so well expressed. The poem conveys so many feelings, such loss, and flows so well. Many can relate to this. The lines,’ Without you there was nothingness, you brought what happy brings’ profoundly stand out. Unrequited love can be so devastating, destroying, but an inner strength, acceptance, can also shine through which is what I sense whilst reading. Such a sad ending but conveyed beautifully.
