Prayer of a Child No 1

Dear God, I don’t know where you are But I know you’re up above I am told by my Mommy That your heart is full of love So can you please heal her cancer Because I need her so? My daddy’s gone and left us I’ve no idea where he did go Dear God, I wouldn't ask you If it wasn’t so important I don’t want to be left alone Homeless on some pavement I don’t have any aunties Or uncles that I know Nor have I any cousins Living down here below Dear God, I need my Mommy So I beg you to heal her today For she’s all I have here So please don’t delay The doctor says she’s critical That makes me very sad But I know that you can heal her I’ll try never to be bad Dear God, I want to thank You I’ll do that up front Because I know you love her You’ll be my gentle giant Although I am just a child I know you’ll hear my prayer Because my Mommy told me That for all of us you care I’m going to tell the doctor That you’ve got it all in hand But he’ll probably just tell me “Child, you don’t understand.” Copyright © Maureen LeFanue 2007-2012
