Poetry Defined
My words collected on a line
Attempt my subject to define
Spilling forth these thoughts of mine
Laid before the reader who
Flowing like a velvet wine
Tastes the words anew
Do they to the reader speak
Please the audience I seek
Or is my writing too oblique
Leaving those who read to muse
Perhaps again I have to tweak
The words that I use
For every writer knows that they
Hope the verse that they display
Pictures to the mind convey
Trips of fantasy promote
Imaginations freely play
Just from the words they wrote
Written in Scottish Stanza or six line stave, a style inspired by Margaret Fosters poem Mirran
