Pieces
Pieces of paper and pieces of strings.
Everywhere we can find pieces of things.
Pieces of cake, fruits, chocolates, and meat
and so many other good foods we can eat.
Sweet pieces of heaven and pieces of earth!
But pieces of some things have little worth.
There are pieces of cardboard, puzzles, and ice,
furniture, clothing, and even advice.
Pieces of wood and of mere plastic too
are screwed onto things or put on with glue.
We get pieces of jewelry, money and art.
but only one piece of (if not one’s whole) heart!
Sometimes a person more than releases -
He picks, pulls or tears or smashes to pieces!
Folks fall to pieces, but as for me,
it’s “thrilled to pieces” I wish to be!
