Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

Many children are picky eaters and I confess I was one It's a challenge to many parents and not a battle to be won For trying to make a child eat what they don't want to try Can be a battle of wills and make all those involved want to cry My sister and I didn't like peanut butter when we were very small So when were given P and J sandwiches we weren't happy at all We refused to try it and not a bite went past our lips Our foster mother scolded us with her hands upon her hips We were locked in our room, until our sandwiches were gone Being just six and four it took us awhile before an idea did dawn "We'll hide them between the mattresses and fetch them later", we plotted We forgot and she found then a few weeks later full of mold and rotted She screamed and she hollered and vowed to make us pay Lucky for us our foster father was not at work that day She never made us P and J sandwiches again, we were relieved For the next time, sandwiches from her bed she would have retrieved 09/03/2015

What a story *lol*. When I was a kid I hated Summer Sausage sandwiches and I hid them underneath the hot water radiator. It wasn't the best hiding place!

Ha, ha.....I guess we were both concerned about getting rid of our hated foods, not where we hid them :)

Ha,hahahaha... For me, if I didn't eat it, I wasn't going to be eating. So I learned to adjust. Ha, ha. Ah yes, I remember those foster parent days quite well. :o) Nice to see you stopped by my page.

I recently watched an episode of Andy Griffith where Aunt B found a sandwich under Opie's pillow. :) I hope you had better foster parents the next time.

Luckily we were in just that one home. Our parents reunited and another set of issues began. We took what we wanted but HAD to eat what we took.

good one, Cecilia. I have a story like that from my childhood as well, how I got rid of that terrible tasting vegetable alphabet soup!

Such a cute childhood story...I wasn't a picky eater, but my sons eat nothing but pizza, chicken nuggets, noodles and cheese. :(It makes cooking difficult...hugs, Rhonda

Delightful story to relate to us now for it, really, is so amusing but at that time it must have been a nightmare! Wonderful writing that makes one nostalgic of the time we were children, dear Cecilia!
