Our Struggle
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
But against spiritual forces of darkness.
We have divine power to demolish strongholds,
The full armor of God and His righteousness.
His weapons are unlike those of the world—
His word, His Spirit, faith and prayer.
They reveal our great need of Him
And help us, our Father, to draw near.
By resisting the powers of evil,
We submit to the power of our Lord;
Place our feet on the Rock of Salvation—
His weapons, in our struggle, to applaud.
The greatest battleground is our minds,
But the struggle’s not ours alone.
We depend upon the Father for everything—
Our life, salvation and crown.
By submitting to the Lord we restrict evil,
Although the temptations may be great,
He’ll cleanse our hands and purify our hearts,
So evil fails our souls to relate.
Those who are double-minded,
Need ask for faith to carry them through.
This is not a battle that’s tangible,
But one of which we have no view.
In our struggle, we are like the blind,
Needing help to accomplish tasks;
Help to resist the evil one,
Who in our helplessness basks.
But with the power of our Creator,
We can conquer and destroy,
The powers of unseen darkness,
That the evil one does deploy.
