Once You Were My Song

There was a season, precious was that time, When you were my dawn of ebullient sunrise, Song of my mornings, exuberance of spring, Blossoming gleefully life’s verdant prairies Whispering to dreamy nights hints romantic Adorning love verses in indulgent promise. As autumn arrived, you were still by my side, Though vigor of hearts soon began to parch As resplendence dried amid meadows’ sighs When memories of spring autumn spurned For music of romance was abruptly paused And you left the stage as emotions stormed Leaving behind effigy of affections denied. There I struggled in turmoil of the bygones Recalling forever-vows pledged for lifelong Dissonant in your resolve~ time to exit now, When rejecting my pleas, you were soon gone, Refusing to ponder where did love go wrong. Those days of spring still bloom my prairies, Your passionate themes still blossom my dreams, Though you have left and time has moved on I am still holding on to reveries of our past Knowing, at times, while love may not last, It still strums the music and recites its song. This metaphoric and symbolic write is nostalgic, romantic, sensuous, sad, and riveting Vijay my dear friend..The last two lines set it off for me...sounds, smells, and sights - each reminds us of past events, lost loves, timeless memories. A brilliant write!

WoW! Vijay, What an outstanding entry for the contest theme. You composed it so well, and I didn’t want it to end. Your content was spot on. You did a great job expressing how love can turn cold. When one experiences a love like you described, it's hard to forget. Like always ways, your verses were so poetic. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Have a nice day, my friend-Alexis

Long after the love is gone, the scent of it still lingers, in a song, in a perfume in a memory. Very nostalgic but good

"Those days of spring still bloom my prairies, Your passionate themes still blossom my dreams" We are never the less, for having sung Love's Song, such music expressed always deeply attaching to one's sacred heart, becoming a blessed part of humanities' Forever-uplifting-voice. Beautiful write, Vijay!

Vijay your words convey emotional heartache in a timely loss of meaningful memories of all that meant and created special timeless memories in us. You cleverly use nature to relate this special message of your tender emotions. Love this another favorite. I want to let you know that I am taking a break from the Soup for a while. I suffer from radiation from the computer and I have to take time off from it. I will catch up when I return my friend. God bless you Vijay and I will see you soon...

"Though you have left, I am still holding on to reveries of our past." So sad. Clinging to memories, will not bring they back. This is beautiful, yet tender and emotional, all at the same time. Your words caress softly around me and my heart. My best to you, Vijay. ~ Brandy

Vijay, you have such a lovely way with words. You have developed a great work of art that pours the light from the depths of your heart and puts it into your own words. Your poetry resonates with the music of existence. We all had a strong start, but as we get older, we see that all around us is wearing out. Your decision to use free verse to express certain crucial and sensitive thoughts was successful, and the general quality of your writing is quite excellent. wish you luck in the contest.
