All imagesEveryone learn the Heimlich Manuever. You could save someone life's. In five minutes without oxygen the brain begins to die. Look up what happens when a person chokes and is getting no oxygen and see what happens and know what to do.

I got choked at a meal, the old rooster Finally stood up when I had reached the stage Where I thought my life would turn a page He kept on eating his meal, definitely not my ego booster My meal was not much enjoyed, and I felt bad Others meal I had I interrupted Even though my thoughts were corrupted Because I felt he was a cad, to be alive I was glad The old rooster used to strut around and is such a jerk Problem is he thinks he's perfect In every way of life's living and aspect Good most days he's gone and loves to work I guess all old roosters have their faults Some gamble, some drink too much Some with reality out of touch There are some who away waltz All in all, the old rooster has good traits Some bad things I can overlook I just go read a poetry book At least he's not Patrick Bateman at the hotel Bates'

I was saved by the maneuver when in Navy bootcamp. I was sick and had a cherry from a dessert. I couldn’t breathe at all. God bless my fellow sailor for saving my life.

Yes, Kim, no air coming in at all and I could not talk. When finally, I drew a breath, that life giving air sucked into my lungs was precious indeed. Doris, who is a trained nurse was with us and she tried to help but it was not working. My grandson, Caleb, who is 6' 3 " tall was able to better get in the right position to do the maneuver correctly. If he had not been there, I guess I would have died. I am still sore from it, and it is now a week later. Glad you survived your ordeal as well. Thanks for dropping by my page. Sara K

Or a serial killer. Or a weird foot fetish guy. Or a pimp. Hey, he's not so bad after all

Well, Tom, not so bad is good sometimes. LOL.. Some people are really strange for sure. Once on Dr. Phil's show this man said women's feet turned him on and not just any foot, but big feet. LOL..Dr. Phil said, "I wear a size 13". LOL..Sara

Sara, your poem is true proof of your artistic ability. However, such incidents appear to be the norm in today's society. I fully grasp the anxiety and fear you must have felt. it's great to hear you made it through unhurt. Your poem is well crafted, enjoyed.

Lasaad, I have had a problem with getting choked for a lot of years now, but it is just as scary every time it happens. When you know you are not going to breathe another breath, it is scary, panicky, and it is hard to describe. Even more so when it seems no one is going to help. Thanks for stopping by my page and for the nice review of my work. Sara K

Ah yes i should learn this too, i agree, can save someone with this, im sorry you went through that. Must have been so scary. I am so glad you are ok sara. And about your poem you’ve written so well and i love the ending the most about different kind of people and how they are is so profound whilst also maintaining a brilliant rhyme scheme . Sending you light always .

Why, thank you, IE. That was not the first time I have had trouble choking. It started back when I was probably in my late thirties. I had not had a problem in a long time, but you never know when it might crop back up. Everyone should be trained or some idea of what to do besides just calling 911. Thanks for dropping by my page and taking time to comment. Sara, I am still feeling apprehensive about getting choked especially if no one is here.
