Oh, Those Picnics

Picnics can be so much fun For my grandchildren and me Sandwiches, cakes and orange juice And for me a cup of tea So off we set to our favourite spot So near to the waters side Fresh mowed grass we all sit on In such pleasure, we abide Noisy splashes, shrieks of joy The make our day complete Then lots of kids, they join us too Oh everything, it feels so sweet It brings me so much happiness To see those children, laugh and play To watch them having so much fun Makes all my cares just float away

Made me hungry and thinking of the picnics I had with my daughter when she was young. We are planning a picnic next week(in cooler weather) at Riverside park in Memphis, along the mighty Mississippi river. Great and cheerful poem. A7 WILL JUST BE THE THREE OF US AND THAT BEAUTIFUL VIEW.

I'm pleased to be rereading this delightful poem, Vera! Watching children at play gives us elders a lot of satisfaction. Pity they grow up so quickly!! Best regards // paul

Hi Paul, thank you for your lovely comment, yes it is a pity they grow up but then it was a pity our own kids grew up, but as they say that is life, we still love them just as much and the other thing is we can have decent conversations with them so I suppose there is the good and the bad as in everything, regards to the family and take care.........Vera

Hi Alexis, thank you so much for your lovely comment, yes picnics are great especially when the kids were little but now they are in their late teens and early 20's and I really don't think they would like having a picnic with Nan these days but we all still enjoy life when we are all together, hope you are well, take care.........Vera
