Oh Great and Powerful Future

Oh great and powerful future What will you do with our past? We’ve labored over the years To make sure our photos last. Having filed hundreds in books Where they’re somewhat organized By event, by year, but by god When we’re gone, will they still be prized? Oh great and powerful future I know I’m a simple man, Without powers of prophesy My life has a limited span. But please remember these photos Or if not, why do we save. Can’t a record of memories Have a future beyond the grave?

Interesting idea. I guess if we live on in the hearts and minds of others, that in itself is a sense of immortality, I think. As long as our memory is kept alive, then perhaps that's the secret to ever-lasting life. Kudos; enjoyed this thought-provoking poem :)

I've wondered the same and decided to create mine into DVD's with music and send them as gifts. They tell the story of lives joyfully, sometimes painfully lived. I still sit and reminisce with photos of those gone on but not forgotten... For as long as there remains a longing... Photographs will be prized! Simply beautiful

Great question asked...We hope that they will be a keepsake for our children..I have an aquaintaince who said when she took pictures that she gave each of her children copies and told them when she died to just throw all her pictures away..Enjoyed reading your work today..Thanks for stopping by..Sara
