October

Quench the sun with a clinging mist And adorn the land with amethyst; The grape already touched with frost Finds clustered fruit will soon be lost. The wind catches the leaves that fall And birds head south with anxious call; Frost comes quick to lick the flowers Who droop their heads in long lost hours. The crimson leaves brush bark that's rough To show leaves and bark are tree enough; And in the woods squirrels gather nuts While sleepy beasts look for winter huts; And the tremulous wing of a butterfly Etch fluttering flight in a sapphire sky. Up above shines a full harvest moon To hide the memories of long lost June; She shines with the aura of a gypsy rose With the in between of winter's snows. Then the faded earth and leaden sky Bid October a sad goodbye.

Your words do nature justice in this finely crafted piece. I to adorn nature and try to capture its beauty in verse. I would love to hear some of your insights on my own work such as these poems; Where do the Butterflies go, Feather Beauty Bright, Tragic Feather and Dance of the Damselfly. Thanks.

YOU shine with the aura of a gypsy rose, Elizabeth! YOU know how to rip a heart out with every word you lay down on paper. You're like a fountain of pure poetic water that just keeps on flowing from the Mother of ALL Sources. When you stop writing the earth just might stop turning! And by the way - Soup Mail Sweetheart!

Marvelous!! October is my wife's month of birth. It is here that you have captured the beauty of the month almost as well as she captures beauty itself. Ahh, "Etch fluttering flight in a sapphire sky." My jaw dropped with the magnificence of this line and of them all, well done.

Masterfully written. every line is my favorite but the clencher is "And the tremulous wing of a butterfly Etch fluttering flight in a saphire sky." You inspire me so that I get tempted to stop all this necessary liveing stuff and start writing! You got it girl ... flaunt it!
