My Little Girl
My Little Girl
by Amy Swanson (c) July 2007
I may not ever do great things,
or change the world at all -
but there is someone in whose eyes
I know I stand quite tall.
She brings each problem, each concern,
and trusts in me to find
the answer that will soothe her heart
and bring her peace of mind.
A band-aid, or a hug, or smile,
is all she ever asks -
I find life’s greatest joys
in these humbling, gentle tasks.
When there are days that I feel sad,
betrayed by all the world,
I look at her and my heart smiles -
my precious little girl.
