My Fear

Say their fool you are just a tool I’m the monkey on your back From the day you were born I have cut you no slack Your deepest fear I’m always here Just one shot away To slide that needle into your vein Spinning the world away Your wooden beast, I’m your feast I know you feel my call I just live here in the shadows Waiting for you to fall Write your write trying to fight What is a part of you But in the end know my friend You and I are not through ----------------------------------- The hell we aren't, never again. I have no idea if a monkey is a Wooden beast but after being a junkie inside and out for over twenty years this is a fear that is a part of my everyday. I praise God for another day clean. Written for Matt's contest, mj

Hi, Michael! I like to congratulate you on your winnning poem in Matt's contest. It's extemely hard to put our past to rest; it reminds us how we were then...making us ponder over them with deep sadness. But the good news is that we must move forward and rely on God to guide us every step of the way! A very sad poem, reflecting the remorse of a past life and a heart willing to change. Wishing you continued success, Andrew. Warms Regards to your family.

Interesting write here, Michael. 2nd stanza/3rd line is either a Freudian slip (smile) or a play on words. Vein with an "e" is in your arm ... Vain with an "a" may be in your mind ... LOL ... anyway, congratulations on your win in Matt's contest !! Hope you let us know soon about your bionic knee ...

You inspire all of us to confront our own "beasts" which take many forms. The one of which you speak is sinister indeed, but now you can hold your head high and help others overcome obstacles. God bless you, MJ. Love, Carolyn
