My mother believed kids should be seen and not heard
And that teens have no right to be sad
They contribute nothing, everything is done for them
What reason to be upset could they have?
She didn't seem to get that kids have feelings
And teenagers have more than most
It's no wonder I grew up emotion with no meaning
It's no wonder I grew up morose

Every day there was something else
Something that she would nit pick
Never could I do the right thing
I could never gain her acceptance
I was never pretty, smart or good enough
There was always someone better
And that is why I put her down
In the written form of a letter
"Dear Mother, you have never loved me
And I needed a mother's love
But it's too late now, don't even bother
You were no mother to speak of."
And with that I walked out of her life
With absolutely no regret
Now I am happier than I've ever been
But sadly motherless

Unlike mostly all of my poems, this is based on real life. 'Nuff said about that, the poem says all that needs to be said.

This poem i had to read and it misted my eyes.I can feel your pain..I feel fatherless so many times and it hurts when you know they re still alive and how wonderful life could be if only they could love and give a litttle..But im tired of trying to change hus ways and means..instead im trying to change my way and accept him for who he is..Keep loving your mum..Shiw her what a good mum you are.She might have a past you never known of and maybe the future can be a remedy of new beginnings..hugs

It's always sad when you hear of this, at least you know how important this relationship should be and have learnt from it. Take care, Richard

This is a deeply moving poem and one I can relate to. Growing up I had to depend on parents I didn't trust to take care of me because of the faulty relationships. It's good that you can write about your mother. I've written several poems about this very thing. Your poem is beautifully expressed and very nicely written. Faith

It is sad to learn of the fact that you did not have the loving relationship with your mother that you needed..Probably if you dug deep enough you would find that your mother did to you what her mother did to her and so on back ..So you need to do so research and get to the cause so that you can work through it and not do to the next generation what has been done in the past..Thanks for the visit..Sara
