Mermaid Tears

Mermaids weathered many crossings Along side the schooners on the seas. Even though they could calm the waves, They were completely forbidden to do so By Neptune the very stern God of the sea. Turbulent waves and winds, sails ripping, And masts cracking, a captain fought hard To keep his schooner from total destruction. One mermaid loved this captain from afar. In an instant she calmed the winds and waves. Changing the course of nature saving his life. Neptune banished her to the ocean depth. Never to surface or swim with ships again. Sobbing, she was sentenced for eternity. To this day her bright luminous salty tears Wash upon the sandy beaches as sea glass. Treasures of eternal reminder of true love. For Mystic Rose's contest, " Fantasy, Fantasy, Fantasy" (Inspired by Neptune God of the Sea)

Very touching excellent poem written by a very good poet. I saw that you view another poet named Margherita Russo she's only 14 and I know it would mean alot for her to have you read her newest poem if you have the time. Thank you very much.

Love it a lot,,, Huell Howser did a show called Calif Gold, he'd go up & down the state, one show called "Diamond Beach", because the sandy water polished the rocks. So it looked like diamonds. Love what you wrote, thank you for reading "mommie"

Thanks Harry when it comes to sand and the sea magic happens to my quill. It feels like I was born from the sea. I was born, raised and still live in Michigan. Most winters I spent it at the Gulf. Missed it this winter, Surgery and a 2nd at the end of April. Too Cold here. Warm Smiles, Connie

Dear Connie, Your salty tears I tasted and sweeter than ambrosia them I found! Poseidon would be proud of your fantasy writing and so will I, the common mortal! Thank you!

Thank you Demetrios for your beautiful comment. My soul belongs to the sea and sand. I was born and raised in Michigan, but I crave the smell of sea salt air, bare footing down the beach and enjoy all nature's costal treasures have to offer. I manage 3 months each year to be with the sea and sand. Warm Smiles, Connie
