I sit by the fireside,
The backlog breaks,
The shadows roam inside.
A ghostly figure moves across the plains,
Bringing the end in the misty rain.
I get up and move across the room,
The darkness falls,
All too soon.
My mind goes back to a friend I once knew,
The darkness has fallen on him too.
I fall to my knees and pray,
What is there left?
Not even the brave.
They were taken so long ago,
Where else is there for us to go?
I sit by the fireside,
And pick up the guitar that sits by my side.
As I pick at a simple song,
I shake my head,
Wondering where it all went wrong.

I've been in this place before. It's a huge battlefield. I adored how you ended this. Excellent job!
