Lost Degas Loves parts in tears of red Revenge is found with dirt on a spade The cards of life tell naughty tales Aces may be black or red, however The proverb of luck will bite you back So bury the dead very carefully As the ballerina dances above us all

Seeing your convo with Andrea below: To me the last line means that despite tears, revenge, naughty tales, bad luck and dying '... all life will still continue ..' And, since you don't know what it means, I'll stick with my satisfying interpretation and be happy I read this - cause I am ... CayCay

hmmm, this is very dark and hard for me to understand that last line, but I still really like it and I think I kind of get it. You made me have to look up that painting becuase I could not believe Degas did it. hahaha Anyway, the real artist is quite interesting. I saw others of his work and really liked them.

Hard for you to understand? Hey I dont even understand it! One painting is Degas by the way, and this poem started out as something completely different, sometimes I just like to make a poem be very cloudy and open to many meanings.

I agree this is disturbing, effective but disturbing. did you mean "Love parts in tears of red"?? I guess carrying that big head in her arms might be a lot easier than on that tiny neck of hers!

Oh Eileen, I think I would need 10 years of therapy, to figure out what I meant, even I have no idea what I meant! Its simply a dark Gothic outlook on life I guess that could mean what ever the reader wants, I sometimes like poems, that have no direction and could be taken 1000 ways, if only to just to make one think, this one sure made me think. One of the paintings is indeed Degas.

You feel most at home, Arthur, when tackling poems such as this one. You prepare the stage with a dark scene and effective play on words. // paul

In darkness, a ray of poetry beautifies the tales, dear Arthur!
