When that fateful day has come and passed
we want to reject reality.
A miracle we have never seen nor known
we would accept more quickly
than the loss of one
who has been a part of our being,
part of our blood – our love;
one who has always been there,
and now … is not.
It is more inconceivable in some ways
than our own mortality
because we have no control over theirs
though we wish we could,
and as much as we prayed
for them to be spared from the pain
and be taken, we still wish them here
like they always were –
yet we know we can’t even stay ourselves –
So – we celebrate the love
that surrounds us still;
the memories of loves that are gone
yet still comfort us,
and hug those that are still here
just a little more tightly…

    I still miss my Mama....It's been 13 years....Growing up knowing she was steadily deteriorating...nearing death was excruciating. When I could finally pray for her to be free from pain...God allowed her to sleep. This was beautiful with truth shining from every line. Thanks for your words of comfort. I am unwell...Tomorrow is a new day ..Bless you.
