Let Me Revel 'Til Tomorrow

Far from the language of men I buried My sorrow, I wrapped it in solitude Grieving safe in linen white and I heed Its soft demanding voice rarely subdued For should I say too soon: ‘I badly wish From you to be parted. Go! Disappear In the air, I no longer care! Vanish! Vanish miserable friend! Vanish from here!’ Then what? For my sorrow you see Is such a loyal tender companion A welcome gateway and escape to me It never lied, never cheated, what’s more Its friendly chains I made, so do not be too harsh, let me revel 'til tomorrow.

I like it Anne-Marie...."how we do nurture the scars of old memories." Nicely done Sonnet.

Thank you John; I was wondering if, culturally, it is more true of women than men?

Another strong powerful poem Anne-Marie, and yet another great one to add to the collection. So well done.

Good Afternoon Anne-Marie. I have no words for this. This is poetry in true fashion. Honestly. And yes, it is one that must be read out loud slowly and with emphasis. Your title alone is poetic Anne-Marie. It was an honor to read such an entry. Well done in its entirety. Have a wonderful night.

Lisa, thanks for your thoughtful comment. I didn't learn until today about 'Slam' poetry. that sounds really interesting and I'm going to investigate. See you on your page my friend:)

Demetrios, I am so glad you liked it and thank you for your kind comments. I wasn't sure where I was going at first with this, or what title to give it, but I let the poem dictate itself and was quite surprised in the end:)

Great write; excellent soneteering Anne-Marie. I hesitate to read too much into poems, as I have been told on an occasion or two: "friendly chains" is so effective. It seems U made a choice of companions. Since U elected sorrow, which is ironically more loyal and cheat-proof, than the man/men, U r not shooing "sorrow" off. Laugh at it!

Anil, thank you so very much for your wonderful words. I've made my peace with sorrow a long time ago, but it just likes to come and revisit, and because it's a longtime friend, I simply listen:)

What a beautiful strong poem this is. It's a sonnet but would do well as Slam Poetry.... There will be a next morning, go towards it with an open mind as strong as I think yours is.

Thank you so much Darren! Taylor Mali was incredible. I watched him in 'What Teachers Make' and, as a retired teacher, let me tell you that was an absolute treat. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos.

Thank you so much for the wonderful words of encouragement Darren. Don't worry, I swim my sorrows away. I'll have to look at Slam Poetry, 'cause I never heard of that before:)

Thanks Doug, a poet friend of mine on a French poetry site was hesitating about releasing a text that tackled the evils of colonisation, racism, the revision of history, and many other topics . . . and it greatly saddened me to see that we still feel shackled, and are afraid to speak up in a world that is so prompt to judge and reject.

Anne Marie, this was wonderful, a little dark, a little sad but definitely strong and defiant. This needs to be read aloud, it is something that should be heard as well as read. I really enjoyed this.

Thank you so much for your comments Chris. I certainly do not like to wallow in pain or sorrow, but the injustices of this world get me all worked up and after these short-lived eruptions I go back down for a while. My kids know to wait for the morrow when I'll embrace life again:)
