Leaving My Heart
You
watch me
leave with eyes
grown dim. Once bright,
they kept me in sight
and shone when I came home.
But circumstances require
we part. My shadow, my heart - your
sad baying follows me to the door.
When will you know to wait for me no more?
Dedicated to Ollyver, My one and only best doggie,
a miniature Eskimo that i had to give up years ago.
I left him at Pet Smart, which has a no-kill policy, and
I will always remember his cries as I left the store that day
