Just so Fishing Tale

                           One has to have plenty of imagination ,

                                         For   this   skillful   art .

                                 Before you hear the reel sing ,

                                       To stay at it for hours .

                                     Once    I    caught    a    fish ,

                                          Frailest   of   the   frail .

                          Letting   out  a   sigh ,  had   it   swim   away ;

                         For it to be meatier , some other day .

                              What   I   gain'd ,   me   you   might   ask .

                                  A day spent in sheer idleness

                                             And   solitude   vast .

                                                  ~     ~     ~

    Vow Gautami....surprising twist and great message. Winning wishes for John's contest. Thanks for commenting on my verse,'i am bored with Poetrysoup'. No I am not hurt. I am here for fun. Poetry is just one of my passions. I saw room for improvement and voiced it. I don't think I am wrong altogether. Non-voicing in fact would have caused inner hurt to Self........Like your take on it as well. Luv & best wishes - Hitendra Mehta

    You haveme smiling, Gautami. The poem almost looks like the shape of a fish and, yes, sometimes you might sit there for hours meditating while you fish. (This can be a good thing.) Other days, you'll be sore from reeling in the big ones. I'm taking a three-day charter fishing cruise at the end of the month so I'm hoping to catch a 300-pound swordfish. Really enjoyed your poem! Love, Carolyn
