Invitation a Culinary Greek Destination
Let’s begin with
A strong fresh
Brewed Greek coffee
The aroma alone,
Will wake up
Your senses,
Allow you to
Let go, to keep
An open mind to delight
And excite
You, relax your taste buds.
About to travel,
Don’t put up fences,
Today is the morning
After the night before,
No doubt you feel groggy
You drank lots of
Ouzo and Raki,
And you are now
Paying the fee.
But don’t slurp it
To the bottom,
An experience
Never forgotten.
Let’s get started,
We invite you
To our Greek buffet day,
So please stay.
PARAKALEO,
No need to think
It through,
Any excuse will do.
The menu includes
Spanakopita,
And Tiropita
With feta
Haloumi, and parmesan
Cheese,
Kleftiko lamb cooking
Slowly and steady.
People salivating,
Knives, forks at the ready,
Greek roast potatoes
Add olive oil and butter,
Garlic, cloves, bay leaves,
Add loads of lemon,
Leaves a lasting impression,
Sea salt and ground pepper,
Oh, I forgot Organum,
A must, always in the kitchen
Of a Greek home and mum.
There will be plenty of pasta,
With bolognaise ala
Greco mode, tons of garlic,
And napolitana sauce.
For the vegetarian,
Par of the course.
Parmesan cheese
Whipped with sour cream,
Bought from a Greek deli,
Add chopped olives.
We’ve Planned a delicious
Menu for all,
Eaten any season of the year,
Spring, summer
Winter or fall.
How can there ever be
A menu and Greek buffet,
Without pita
And souvlakia and humus,
And tzatziki and taramosalata,
And our last savoury dish
Is moussaka,
With fried potatoes,
Aubergines and a tasty
Greek style mince, layer
It, and make a béchamel,
Light and fluffy
What a treat, spill it on top,
Béchamel can never flop!
Now we arrive at fun time,
Ice cream and hot
Chocolate sauce,
Why, just because,
Loukoumades, fried to
A golden brown,
And smothered in honey,
And sesame
Seed and baklava,
Prepared lovingly,
And carefully oiling
Each filo and then baking
It with an assortment of
Nuts, chopped figs,
Fig jam and honey
Well how about
We open a poetry soup
Kitchen
So we can learn how
To become Michelin
Chefs!
