Invitation

I open my locker And a folded piece of paper Flutters to the ground. I bend over To pick it up And unfold it One, Two, Three times. The words on the page Jump out at me. "Formal?" it says And a yes or no option. The daisy on the page Is perfect, Beautiful, In black and white pencil. I am stunned As I stand there Holding that piece of paper. And then I rush to class Hastily, But carefully, Shoving the note Back into my locker. After class, He walks with me And asks for my answer. I don't know what to say-- He's my best friend-- So I give him an apologetic smile And enter my next class Leaving him standing there In the doorway, Watching me before walking off. And I am left with a question. But I am so totally and completely confused As to my reply. Yes? Or no?
