I Wonder

I wonder if the poems birthed from my soul might be, like my days upon this earth , numbered. . . For recently that place - where my seedling thoughts once sprouted in abundance - has lain nearly fallow. And so it is I’m brought to contemplate. . . How long can poems keep springing forth from me? Yes, days are fleeting, but looking to sky, I see infinity. . . so I wish on boundless stars that thoughts will yet appear to Illuminate my mind, reflecting poems shining on and on. an unposted oldie

I like the form on this poem. I seem to be in a big writing slump lately. When I write nothing seems to appeal to me or sound good. This is a wonderful poem and I am so behind in my reading. They just announced that our interest rates will remain low for a while yet. that is good news. love phyl

How long can poems keep sprouting from me? << I've thought about this time and time again. I hope it never ends, but... who's to say it won't? Just keep enjoying the moment I think and write what comes natural to you in the time the thoughts are fresh. Old poems are fun to look back on! Wonderful etheree... got me thinking...

Andrea, this is nicely done. Isn't it funny where inspiration comes from? You sum it up so well. Sometimes fertile, sometimes fallow--yet your talent with words is always there at the ready. Thank-you for all you do and say. It is a pleasure to read.

Hey Toots! Glad I stopped by before heading off to bed. I really enjoyed the word fallow here, it is perfectly placed, makes me want to stay in that line. Thanks for your kind words, always. Happy Easter, back. Hugs, Cyndi

I suppose, for some, the well runs dry. I doubt it will for you. I've been going for 40 years. It started when I was playing in professional orchestras. I had a lot of time to write because services were only two and one half hours each day. Afternoons free, besides practicing the orchestra music I painted and wrote poetry. I sometimes have to scratch for a subject, but am still going. I must keep trying to communicate. Love, daver

I completely understand your question/concern. My thought is that writing keeps the gray matter working. At least I'm hoping that is the case. Nicely done. Jack

Andrea; This is beautiful. An old poem that you post today will be old tomorrow and someone will read it. You will always write beautiful poems. The day will come, but that is up to God. As for now keep writing.... Lucilla SoupMail

It seems it's ever flowing, the river just keeps going. Someday we'll run into the ocean wide. But till that day is here, we'll have another beer. Elbow to elbow, side by side. Some wouldn't say I golf. :) I'm not much of a fan myself these days. :)
