I Want To Leave

I want to leave My heart is calling me away Too much hurt and pain Uncertainty I this surreal world This world of poetry I want to leave Where I can see people’s faces Where I can read what is written In expressions of eyes I can see A concrete reality Unlike the world The world of poetry I want to leave I need to experience a smile Let it warm up my heart Share what’s in every part Of a mutually shared day Verbal communication Words that touch the air Resonate with beauty fair Words combined with a look Not found in any book Of sweetest poetry For once the rivalry Between make believe and actuality Is becoming intense In every single sense I want to leave To be part of a world Of reality Apart from poetry I want to leave I need the warmth of a touch A touch that I can feel Warming my skin An embrace A handshake For heaven’s sake Something tangible and real Something I can FEEL So unlike this world This world of make believe This world, oh, so unreal This world of poetry Eileen Manassian Ghali

I agree with Anne Lise Andresen, one of my very sweet friends that behind the clouds the sky is always blue. You are genius always with your wonderful poetry. PS is a best platform in the world where beautiful friends having beautiful thoughts are there, I fell so, Carry on with us. Certainly we don't want to miss any poet friend here. Loved always, bl

Eileen; this is an awesome poem. in poetry we can express our feelings. We can write about real things, or fiction. Readin, or writing poetry can change the mood we are in - So don't go anywhere. Take care and God bless you.... Lucilla

I was blown away by this amazing work of art my dearest Eileen. Demetrios' words were exquisite in praise of talents. "To me, just because it’s only words you read, doesn’t make it any less real." Richard's words also resonated with me! Love you, Miss Boop... Kenny xoxoxoxox

I know how this feels... Sweet Eileen, This world is not real, for ME. But, I'm okay with that. This is like my tiny get away place... LOL, sometimes I feel as if i want to get away ;)and find the tranquility as I did when I was young ---Sitting by my parents Barnyard .. writing my little heart away--- It eats me alive when I'm not doing what i thought my heart at such an early age. ((to enjoy life and make what we want of it.)) For some reason I love the illusion of living in a poetry world. Others around me don't understand, this passion I picked up since the age of 12.. I would write poems to impress a group of friends.. Now the world is different, and sometimes my family look at me crazy, for still believing and living in a world where the PEN NEVER DIES."

PD...I sure could use a hug! Thank you for this echo of how I feel. I just shared a poem at a farewell get together with someone from our church group. Everyone appreciated it...In my personal circle, I started sharing about this place and one of my friends said,"Enough of PS already!" I can understand her reaction. I tend to talk about this place and the people here an awful lot. I DO love my friends here so much. I will never leave in heart.

I think of all the comments Demetrios's resonates with me the most. I do not feel my cyber friends any less real. In some ways they are more connected to me because we connect below the surface and they are digging into the bits of me that may not be seen day to day. Poetry is trancendent and creates possibilities that otherwise would not exist. It allows us to be and it allows us to see! Another great an thought provoking piece Eileen. A real big cyber Bear Hug for you. Do you feel it?

I understand exactly how you feel. I wrote a poem called "More Than Just Words." It basically states how much I prefer not to have drama happen even though I have a gift for writing, and at the end of the day I wish to be content. I wouldn't blame you if you took a week away from PoetrySoup. Sometimes it is necessary.

Thanks, Justice, for understanding. My life has been a bit more hectic since the semester has commenced...The holiday is over...So, I will stay, but won't be as prolific as before...Thank you for your kind words. I hope to give your poem a read very soon.

PS in the only excursion I've made into cyberland and it's not at all what I expected, I've met some wonderful and talented people that I would not have otherwise. To me, just because it’s only words you read, doesn’t make it any less real. Take care, Richard

Yes, Mr Seal....perhaps you are not off base. I've always placed high value on my cyber friendships...I've become a bit of a recluse for various reasons, and just today...in a phone conversation with my dad who is the light of my eyes...I heard these words, "I know you are unhappy with yourself and you immerse yourself in the world of poetry...that is not real." So...my father, a pastor, ...my ideal...what could I say? Thank you for your post...I appreciate it.

Dear Eileen, reading your poem I feel as though I would like to come to the defense of poetry! I want to protect it, to stand up for it, to shout and say: Poetry is the language of our higher self, of the nobility in us, it is the language of GOD himself Who tries to inspire us to elevate us to become God-like ourselves! Poetry is to help us escape reality, the brute reality and aspire a better world. Poetry is beauty, is decorum, is splendor of our soul! You ought to know that, You know that for you are a poetess yourself and A VERY GOOD POETESS INDEED!

Demetri mou, my dear poet philosopher...Yes, your words ring with truth. I do acknowledge what you say as being the echo of my own thoughts and yet....recently...I wonder. Your post is in itself beautiful and lovely...Thank you for your words of commendation and praise. I treasure and value it.... God bless you always....Me agapi panta!

the world of poetry is indeed unreal in many ways, and even when we write personal, autobiographical pieces (as I do, and I know you do too) they still fail to adequately convey who we really are and all that we are...they're real, and yet not, if that makes sense...

Yes, my dear. That does make sense! :) Often we take an experience and then embellish it to make it more beautiful...So, grains of truth, being turned into pearls...We don't now at times where one ends and the other begins. Thanks ever so much for stopping by and adding your thoughts, Charlotte. I do appreciate it! :)
