I Want To Leave
I want to leave
My heart is calling me away
Too much hurt and pain
Uncertainty
I this surreal world
This world of poetry
I want to leave
Where I can see people’s faces
Where I can read what is written
In expressions of eyes I can see
A concrete reality
Unlike the world
The world of poetry
I want to leave
I need to experience a smile
Let it warm up my heart
Share what’s in every part
Of a mutually shared day
Verbal communication
Words that touch the air
Resonate with beauty fair
Words combined with a look
Not found in any book
Of sweetest poetry
For once the rivalry
Between make believe and actuality
Is becoming intense
In every single sense
I want to leave
To be part of a world
Of reality
Apart from poetry
I want to leave
I need the warmth of a touch
A touch that I can feel
Warming my skin
An embrace
A handshake
For heaven’s sake
Something tangible and real
Something I can FEEL
So unlike this world
This world of make believe
This world, oh, so unreal
This world of poetry
