Humility Before Honor
Humility Before Honor
“5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.“ 1 Peter 5:5-7 NKJV
Because humility precedes honor,
I humble myself before my Lord.
I pray for His grace to be humble—
Faithfulness in small things to regard.
I am very insignificant in His presence
For my Creator is so grand.
Wisdom brings humility,
That the world fails to take in hand.
Those who are faithful in the little things
Are rewarded with responsibility.
The greatest of leaders
Understand true humility.
But the proud are lacking in wisdom,
And instead demand respect;
Fail to see that it’s earnt
By humility and love circumspect.
The humble see the folly
That follows the proud and haughty,
Who care not for the poor;
Fail to come to the party.
The reward of the humble
Comes down from God in heaven,
Who makes their lives significant,
By honor and exaltation given.
God sets Himself against the proud,
But gives continual grace to the humble.
The proud may win for a time,
But eventually will stumble.
Humility comes Before Honor;
The honor from God above;
The sufficiently humble He exalts,
When they receive His wisdom and His love.
