Halloween Dare

The abandon old mansion on cemetary hill,
goosebumps raise, followed by a chill.
The townfolk swear it's haunted from a bloody past,
But with my impetuous youth it was hard to grasp.
On halloween night it was traditional, to knock on the door,
and how long would you stay hearing footsteps on the floor.
I was always trying to prove I was very, very brave
once on a dare, I climbed in a fresh dug grave.
I was never known for being very smart,
almost making it into a new form of art.
So I took that dare with a puffed up ego trip,
knocking at the door with a firm upper lip.
Soon I saw something from the corner of an eye,
and even today I want to run and cry.
The air become chilled seeing my very breath,
it got so cold I feared I'd freeze to death.
right before my eyes on the front window glass
Foggy words appeared in the chilling blast.
with a ghostly hand "HELP ME" was written out,
I couldn't help but begin to scream and shout.
A horde of demons were after me gaining up fast.
To hell with dares, who cared for the bloody past.
No one believed me that very next day,
I really didn't care I'm just glad I got away.
