Author's Notes:  This poem, "Frank Sinatra You're The One," is one that I've wanted to write for some time. It is similar to an earlier biographical narrative on the world famous dancer, Fred Astaire, that I posted with PoetrySoup on 2 September this year.  Like Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra is another one of those twentieth-century icons in the entertainment industry who attained international celebrity status and became a legend of epic status in the music industry.  I decided to write this poem as both a dedication and tribute to this great American singer and international entertainer.  Although no longer with us, Frank Sinatra like other great musical performers who have pasted on before, will always have a link to the present through the passion, quality and timelessness of his songs and melodies. I hope that you find this write of interest.  Frank Sinatra -- You're The One!!  (Gary Bateman - November 10, 2014) (Biographical Narrative poetic format)

Hi Gary: What else can you say about a young singer from Hoboken in 1939 who rose to the top doing his way and being the first to fight racism when it wasn't popular. his voice was his fortune. Great narrative!

D, Frankie is my all-time favorite, but a very close second his Rat Pat teammate -- Dean Martin!! I've got all of his music 1940s-1990s and truly love the lyrics so much to many of his famous songs. He certainly had a magical way with his voice that allowed him to connect and meld with his audience. Glad you liked this Bio Tribute!! Best Wishes Always, Gary XOXO

Excellent, Gary. What a tribute to one of my favourite singers of all time. His was a special voice, but then he had the right songs to go with it. Well done! // paul

Paul, Thanks so much. It did help that Sinatra had the likes of Cole Porter, Paul Anka and other great lyricists to craft and perfect his music. What he brought though, was that undeniable magic to each of those songs when he put his voice to the words and music. I liked Dean Martin too. Glad you liked this write!! Gary

Very nice, Gary. I always wondered, though, about his brat pack, and what kinds of stuff they were into!! Such an amazing voice he had. Today are so many men and women with amazing voices. But they need to find their own niche like Sinatra did, His style as a crooner could not be denied or replicated!

Thanks Andrea!! "The Rat Pack" originally in Las Vegas consisted of: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, and Johnny Carson in the 1960s. They were all into singing, jokes, "nonsense," and other stuff before live audiences. They performed together and had great music!! They were of a different generation. Best!! Gary

Thanks David!! It's great to do one of these Bio pieces ever so often. Frank Sinatra's one of my all-time favorites. I did one also on Fred Astaire and posted it, I believe, a couple of months ago. Best Always, Gary

Thanks Nette!! I saw one of his last concerts too when he was pretty old and the audience was actually singing with him (to help him out). He's a singer who will never be forgotten. His repertory of songs speak for themselves and will live on. Best!! Gary

Once, I was lucky enough to hear and see him live when he came to Athens in early nineties! Although his star was setting still he was a great performer and singer. Certainly the early years before Elvis and the Beatles he was the ONE and only that all generations were in his feet! Great work my friend, Gary, for a great man, indeed!

Demetrios, Thanks my friend for commenting on the "Chairman of the Board," as Frank Sinatra was often called. I remember it was in 1998 when he passed away and had not been entertaining anymore for several years. I was working then in Orlando, Florida. They had a special week-long tribute to him on TV. He's sorely missed!! Best Always!! Gary

I love Frankie too Brenda. I have all of his music (early songs and later). I'm also a fan of Dean Martin and the rest of the Rat Pack. They just don't have real entertainers any more that have the depth and gravitas that Sinatra, Martin, etc. had. Welcome to the 21st Century. Oh Joy!! Talk to you soon. Best!! Gary
