Fragrance and Rain

The last time it rained it chilled my
nose into raw bone. My children
love the fresh smell of the rain
on their hair. The last time I had
to go into LA and it was really
raining it smelled like car smoke
with a touch of motor oil. The
last time I kissed my lover in
the rain she smelled like incense.
Her hair thick and auburn smelled
like the fresh balmy snow. Some
times I wonder what things must
smell like to God. I'm sure he loves
lavender, blueberry and I'm sure
he can't stand the smell of broccoli
or cauliflower even if he did all the
creating of both rain and food.
