Forbidden Love

As I lay here under the stars. I take a trip down memory lane. And I'm transported to a time when I was deeply and madly in love.Your embrace was my safe harbor. When I was in your arms all was right in the world. Our love story was a gift from God. But the world around us wasn' t ready for such a love.I could remember it like yesterday, You were so hand- some. A greek god could not hold a candle to you. Your fair skin was flawless and your blue eyes were more lovely than the sky on a great day.And your physique took my breath away.I think I fell in love with you instantly. In a strange voice that I barely recognized as my own, I blurted out “ Young Sir”Do you need anythang else? As I recall you must have been smittened with me as well because you didn't answer for a long time. You always told me that you loved my caramel skin and my big brown eyes. You always referred to me as your African princess. When you finally spoke you simply said no.From that day on we were two young lovers who was forbidden to love because of the color of our skin. When your parents found out about our secret love affair I died a million times in one second. They shipped me to another plantation in another state.I longed for you to find me but you never did.I will never forget how you made me feel, you didn't see color you saw me as the love of your life. My darling I felt the same and I will love you until I breathe my last breath. My Grannies Love note 1-18-16

It is so nice to be in love with someone and feel safe by their side. I have a multi-racial son.? Why do some haters attack based on skin color. It makes naked sense to me.

Very sad and strong. I did not expect the ending as her being shipped away. True ancestral story or poetic licence or both?

This is a sad story and for some people it is still a taboo to this very day. My first wife was from British Guyana and in the early 80s we dealt with prejudice. My wife now moved here from Honkong when she was a little girl and I have people who assume I brought he over from China or Thailand to Marry her. (We met in Mexico 23 years ago).

Forbidden love, unfortunately, sprouts not just from the imagination, but from truth which for many years brought grief and anguish to many. You brought all this to life, Alexis with these sad lines. ~ Regards // paul

Love should be and it is today, in most parts of the world, color-blind! Unfortunately, it wasn't like that in the past and that has caused so much pain and suffering as in this magnificent narration of yours, dear Alexis! I only can imagine your granny's desperation! What a loss! What an injustice committed against God's most precious gift: LOVE! A seven, my dear one!

just what is the color of Love....for that color must be held above....anything petty which may inspire pain....because Love comforts and Love Heals just the same....and since Love comes from the heart, it must be sincere....so isn't it obvious that the color of Love is simply clear....;)
