For Contest I Must Write

For contest I must write; it’s plain to see My older writes ignored; so hear my plea If this, my write, gets picked, here is the deal With post upon this rhyme, we’ll set the seal Read not just contest wins, read others too It tears my heart when I don’t hear from you The incense of my soul released in rhyme Yet only winning lines seduce your time And so I brave this challenge that I face I try to write a poem laced with grace The thoughts are stilted and the words belie A spirit bound to rules, longing to fly I’ve bared my heart and soul; will it suffice? Please see pre-contest me; I’ve paid the price! Eileen Manassian September 3, 2014 For Georgio V’s Iambic Forms Contest

I know WE all love to write and read what we can, but imagine if there were people on this site who just were invested in reading the words and enjoying, THAT would be something cool...in my humble opinion! Your poem arouses much discussion and ponder.

Thanks, JS. I'm glad this poem got you thinking. Maybe its just me. I have a blog up about it, if you want to read other people's reactions to it. It's entitled...EXPOSURE, Oh Yes! :) Thanks for reading my poem and commenting. Appreciate it.

I wish Soup could find a way to channel in some Non-writers. People who just like to read poetry. Think about it, like a Netflix of poetry. Where the Directors and Actors are the poets, and the audience is happy just to view the poet's movies. Poetry, sadly, is not there yet. The public, in general underestimate the power of this pure language! The last pure language of harmony on earth.

It is a free site, JS. Lots of people can come just to read, but they can't post comments. You need to be a member to do that. I SO agree with you about the power of poetry. It speaks volumes. :)

HA HA HA HA! ;) Thanks, my dear. I'm glad you are in agreement with me. I can't read all the contest entries so I usually try and comment on those who comment to me. I'm really not into reading contest entry poems...especially NOT before the winners are posted. Then I just get discouraged! ;) I do read one or two to see if I'm on the right track! You are a community builder, Jan. I see you all over the place. You bring so much joy and encouragement. Love ya for it! Hugs

I love this poem-It tears my heart when no one comments on my poems-especially the first ones that were gushing with emotion. Good luck on contest. :-) Christine

Why don't you voice this concern on my blog, Christine. It's a valid one. The blog is entitled, Exposure, OH YES! I'm coming over to get you a read! :)

Oh, Eileen, what you say is so true. Instead of commenting on contest wins, I sometimes read the newest write. Hope you'll join me. Love, Carolyn

Thanks, Carolyn. I have a blog about this, if you care to read. :) Thanks for visiting me. Love to have your pretty face smiling at me. I know I will get some words of encouragement!

I know the feeling. It is a treat when someone reads an older one. Some I haven't looked at in over a year and when someone comments it causes me to reread my own work.

I KNOW!!! I LOVE when that happens! You've always been kind to me, Richard. Even on days when I couldn't write...when I was down in the dumps, you'd read an older write and leave a smile in my heart. I can't thank you enough! I've got a new blog up on this topic. If you want to have a read. Hugs

This is a beautiful sonnet. It is so well written with heartfelt message and spot on rhyme and meter. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Hey, Eileen, with 1000's of poems posted a day, it seems to be a matter of the time of day, time zone, or international date line, as to whether or not your poems stay available and for how long. I often see strings of 10 poems posted buy the same author in succession. The poems of the day and week seldom give the authors name...but I digress. Love this Iambic Rant, well written and to the point.

That is SO true...There should be a rule. When you're new...you are so excited you just post away. I don't think you know all the workings of the place. I know I didn't. It can be frustrating when you see ten poems by the same poet. Thank you for reading my little rant! ;) So good to rant in rhyme, John. I have a blog up about this, if you care to read!

I hope Georgio likes it. I'm just being silly, but still...I needed to get it off my chest. I was going to submit an earlier write. I have a lot of iambs...I love them, but...he wants a recent one...so I wrote one today. Hugs!

You have taken the words out of my mouth, so to speak! You hit my dearest Eileen the nail on the head. Let us see what the impact would be for you and me! Powerful and beautiful, a seven, of course. Good luck!
