My eating habits changed the world, it is so plain for you to see. Enduring all the insults hurled, the truth shines forth from me. 'Twas but for me to seal our fate, my mom would always say. If I were not to clean my plate, famine would have its way. So day by day I played my role, to keep the world at peace. I strived so hard, such lofty goals, My waist became obese. As I grew and gobbled down each burger, malt and fry, when others sought to wear a crown, I took another piece of pie. When walking past someone with girth, remove your hat and pray. But for them, a ravaged earth, that hunger swept away. I Love Food Poetry Contest Sponsored by Lewis Raynes 06/29/2016

Love your humor in this poem, Charlie. My mother would say something similar when I was growing up. Clean your plate, she'd say, someone in China's starving. And so I cleaned my plate, but how that prevented people in China from starving I never did figure out. Best to you in your writing endeavors. M

A lovely, entertaining write, Charlie. I come from a large family, and often there would not be enough food to go around, so we wiped our plates clean! Maybe that's why I stayed slim:) Regards // paul

Very true and very amusing but in the end it comes down to a lesson: Never tell a child things cannot comprehend! Excellent writing my friend, Charlie. A seven!

The title grabs but the write itself is literally "Food!" Was also told somewhat the very same admonitions and couldn't leave the table "til it was all gone!!!" :-) This is so memorable!!!

I love the food humor in your poem Charlie! I think a lot of parents brought us up telling us to eat every bit on our plate because of all the starving people in the world; the guilt made us chubby!:)
