lycian rock tombs seen from the dalyan river ~ resting place of kings Built around 400 BC, these impressive rock tombs have been carved out of the limestone rock and was used to inter Lycian Kings, the only way to see them close up is on a river boat trip on the Dalyan river in Turkey.

Thank you very much Lisa, it was an amazing sight to see, the tombs carved out on the hillside. I'll never forget the heat that day it was about 104f, too hot for me lol. We used to have an apartment in Turkey but sold it last year because there was other places we want to go to. I've got a bit of backache but it's normal after back surgery. Just staying in for a few weeks while I heal. Hope your day is going well. Tom

Dear Tom, how exquisitely gorgeous everything is, from your haiku to those rock tombs. How really amazing the Lycians believed that their dead were carried to the afterlife by magic winged creatures, so they place them in the highest place. Glad heat wave is gone. All govs making a big deal out of anything to control us. Next is monkey pox.not being gay, they wil push it anyway, already are starting with a new brand of COVID. Striking photo Tom, living vicariously through your adventure! Striking - elaborate funeral chambers carved directly into the rock face. Kings would not be integrated into the livable areas of the cities. An amazing place.

Tom great place to see. Great bibllical sites in Turkey, So glad you shared, welcome back home buddy. Glad you had a safe trip up and back. How were the people do they like the English or Americans. I know Demetrios says the Greeks are always at odd ends with the Turkish people and ofcourse wars have been fought...

Thank you very much Harry, they're certainly an amazing sight to see. There is ancient ruins all over Turkey but many have been toppled by earthquakes that Turkey is prone to. Just back, need another holiday to recover lol. Tom
