First Love

We met when were very young. You were " my first everything, my heart's song. My first crush, "like" and love. You were my precious gift from up above. We fell madly in love, we were destined for pure bliss. I will never forget our first kiss. Everything was fine until I got sick. Our happiness went to hell quick. You couldn't handle my mood swings My mind felt broke, I couldn't get a grip on things. I was diagnosed with having Bipolar disorder, It instantly caused our life to be out of odrder. Back then I wasn't given the right medicine and care, Today my days are much better, and I look into your eyes and just stare. I'll never know why you didn't leave back then, You are still my first and only love, I can't wait for next chapter to begin. 10-2-16 Author's note: This write is pure fiction. However I do have close family members who suffer from mental illnesses. Inspired by the "First Love Contest" And the many people who deal with mental illnesses daily.

Very mature poetry, Alexis. The heart of wisdom is shown in this case study of critical self-awareness. Most people w/mental illness aren't aware of it. Excellent poem you've penned, my dear. I loved it. Many blessings of love to you.

Hi Alexis beautiful rhyming poem and quite sad, Mental Illness has affected many people including my Dad, It is a dreadful disease, and this poem has made it sound so beautiful because love has stepped in, even if it was fiction love has over taken the disease, this is great Alexis, take care.....Vera

Heartwrenchingly sad when someone cant cope with the mental illness of a loved one...That person needs more support than ever. I am touched Alexis...and am sending a big tight hug to all sufferers of any mental illness..Hugs.
