Jan, yours is truly one of my favorites in this winner list. I saw only one other so far that I liked as well as yours. (but I started at the bottom. I wonder what gems she has at the top!!) Congratulations.

I guess with my father being terminally ill it helps to be able to write and I write from the heart Sandra - I am inspired by my amazing courageous father and this poem is dedicated to him. thanks for the wonderful comment:-) Hugs Jan xxx

The poem is exquisite in its conception although the inspiration springs from a tragic event: Your father's illness! I lost mine when I was ten from cancer! Death for me , my friend Jan, "Is the pillow of eternity upon which the soul rests for a while dreaming of the life to come" God bless your father and the whole family! A seven!

Exactly my dear Jan, however a parent is a parent , no matter the age and the pain is natural BUT our parents live with us as long as we live! God bless you!

The ancient Greeks were saying: "No bad thing happens in life without a good thing to bring" Sorry for you mother, I lost mine when I was fourteen! As I came to understand: " When God takes a child's parent GOD adapts that child HIMSELF!" Hugs xxx

Oh Demetrios you comment brought a tear to my eye not only for you lovely comment but also at your loss at such a tender age - mum lost her mum to cancer at aged 9 - she has never got over it. My husband's cancer started me on my poetic journey so out of something bad something amazing has also happened:-0 hugs jan xxx

Jan this is an inspired write. I never thought that particular form could rise to this level. As always you have my love and support for you and your family. If not for love then what. With great respect I am going to add it to my favorites list. With these words your father will live forever more. God Bless You All.

Thanks Maurice for you friendship and unfailing support and your wonderful comments. It's amazing where we get inspiration from isn't it - I wonder if i would have come up with this theme if things were different in my life - but we will never know the answer to that one I guess. Hi dear Jan losing someone We hold dearly is desperately painful. But the setting of the sun made me think of someone who is struggling and somehow then rested in peace. That glow makes me think of the soul which never leaves us,reminding us that it would always be close, more than We imagine.Sad and besutiful"!

Jan, I just wanted you to know also that I do deeply empathize with what you and your family are going though. My father, bless his eternal soul, died of lung cancer on December 18, 1975 a few months after I graduated from the college in Wichita, Kansas where I originally come from. He was only "52" years old. I just turned "63" on October 14th. A day doesn't go by that I don't pause and think of him. It's a sad thing, of course, but life goes on. Best Wishes, Gary
