Famine

FAMINE (thousands of children all over the world die every day for lack of food) Famine: Merciless night of death, In your darkness, thousands of Children are devoured Just To appease your, insatiable Appetite for young souls, But in no avail As You never stop asking For more While the children, with: Howling stomachs Fading eyes Chattering teeth Fragile limbs Swelling anguish Raging anger Wrathful mind Tormented spirit Instead Of a frightful flight Before the stretching wings Of death Pray to him, their only Redeemer, To end their agony And Deliver them from the Abyss of despair For Their weak shoulders cannot, Any longer, Withhold the weight of injustice And Of human indifference! © Demetrios Trifiatis 08 MAY 2013

This is the truth. There is so much need everywhere, even in our own Country. Someone said the other day - if we all gave a plate of food to someone that needs it, this would be a better world. Some people do it , but not too many. I help when ver I can. Going to the next.... Lucy

Some would rather see a nation starve rather than share what they have with those who have nothing .

Wise words! True words! Although all we would like to see a better world few are willing to do something about it! I wrote this knowing it is not popular subject for I care and only four people with you have responded! If I had written for a suffering puppy I am certain tree hundred would cry! Thank you!

"Withhold the weight of injustice And Of human indifference!" I like the last lines. When millions and millions people die every year due to hunger, Millions and millions waste food. This is the indifference. You heart cries I know. Very strong poem. Manel

Dear Manel, Thank you very much for your sensitivity. I wouldn’t have expect less from you. I have suffered myself. Please read my poem ETERNAL GRATITUDE and you will see. Unfortunately, people care more about a dog (they should) than about millions dying from hunger! Why? Because they have not suffered themselves, so they cannot understand! Look only three people responded! Thank you!

This is surely a very powerful and amazing write my friend! I am abhorred by this occurrence and I wish I could find a way to end this terrible hunger that is out there, these poor innocent children certainly don't deserve this fate! I really enjoyed your presentation of this illustrious piece, you displayed your emotion for famine very well, I see the philosophy within the poem very strongly! What a masterful write, Great Work!!
