Equipped
Equipped [Conversation With God]
“ 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Pet 1:3-4 NIV
I am equipped, dear Lord
To carry out your will.
I’ve been blessed with gifts in every way
To work tirelessly for you still.
I ask you to refresh my desire
To work for you alone.
I know You’ll never force me
To lay my all at Your throne.
It is my wish to please You
And not live for my own desires.
I ask you to keep me centred
To escape the world’s corruption fires.
I ask you to guard my heart
And make me more discerning
Of imminent worldly pitfalls
Based on my own fleshly yearnings.
My life is dedicated to Your cause
A cause far greater than me.
Preserve me from temptations;
Other distractions with which to agree.
I know that there’s nothing
In this world that will last.
For it’s coming to an end
And that end’s looming fast.
I don’t need wealth to feed my ego
Or lusts to taint my temple and soul
Rather I need Your example
Of a life that was pure and whole.
Help me keep my eyes on You—
You and You alone.
You’ve equipped me for heaven
And eternity’s royal crown.
