Weathered effigy in cemetery square,
Stoically residing in decaying flora air.
Guardian angel of guiding luminosity,
Edifying the burial plots with religiosity.

Time has been harsh to polished stone,
Blemished from raindrops incessant drone.
Comforting arms embrace amassed dead,
Roses encompass tombs with thorns imbed.

Death comes, as the unwelcomed guest,
Hollow words fall and deceased are blessed
Humanity a preordained unavoidable demise,
Transience soul leeched from corpse eyes.

Etched with forgotten names on tombstone,
Hailed high upon ivory pedestaled throne.
Even this epitaphic deity resurrected tall,
Likened mortality, will crumble and fall.

Lisa, this is a beautiful poem, I love walking cemetaries(odd I realize) I love viewing the statues and headstones that stand in beauty and decay. Well done. Constance
