Crackers For Carrots

If carrots peeled for dipping, cut in strips could keep their beta-carotene, yet taste like crackers Ritz when placed upon my lips, What bliss! But they do not. Ah! - such a waste! And if that low-fat yogurt which they're dipped in Were luscious onion-flavored sour cream; and if instead of water I sipped sin- a frothy shake the flavor of my dream; Oh, what nectar on my tongue that I would feel if everything nutritious tasted sweet, and dull or nasty foods could just taste real like melted cheese, potatoes fried or meat. If only what I hated tasted good, I'd diet not, but eat all that I could! Just a silly oldie from my dieting days!!!

Yes, agreed, Andrea. There can be no sensible reason for it not being like this. And why should it rain on weekends? - Red

Primero te doy gracias por tu comentario sobre mi poema en espanol. Muchas gracias tu palabras eran muy amables. I used to love this shakespearean type of sonnet so much. I guess I still do like it, you did great work here. I like the idea of being able to write over a large range of subjects with humor, although I usually limit my own range. Nice poem.

wow, Andrea, is no subject safe from your wondrous pen?, this is amazing poetry, the sonnet form, does not know what has hit it, with poetry like this...

Not so silly. From what I know, dieting is no fun - ever. There is the constant battle that you describe. I like the humorous notes though. Nice work. Jack

I'm kind of a compulsive eater, myself. It's not that bad and greasy food attracts me... it's that ALL food attracts me. This is really funny stuff! I once wrote a sonnet that had a little to do with food... but the odd thing is that eating was compared to writing in the poem... anyway I love your piece! It was quirky and mentioned FOOD! What's not to like?

Yes, and you'd not be a subject for the drive on rubbing out obesity. It's lunch time and your fine poem has made me ravenous. "A moment on the lips, an eternity on the hips." Remember that, dear Andrea. Love, daver
