Childhood Memories

For so long, nearly all my life,
I've wondered:
"Am I as good as others?"
And this thought has hounded me
And compounded all my troubles.

When did it begin?
How did it start?
With the sound of my father's angry voice,
Or the sound of my mother crying
When I lay in bed late at night
Wishing I were dying.

Some strong feelings weaved into an enjoyable rhyme. So many things we've heard...and so hard to find the key to share them with others.

Parents never know what memories that a child will absorb..These memories that have a negative impact form a dark tree in the brain and all negative things that happen to a person after that time stick to that tree causing it to get larger and larger..It can be healed ..There is a book out there that teaches how to over come this..It is called "Who Switched Off My Brain?"....Thanks for stopping by..Sara

The poem upon which you commented brought back a pleasant memory for me..It had been cloudy and some rain for several days then the sun came out casting its light into the running rose upon the trellis and the waterdroplets shone like those clear minature Christmas Tree Lights..Sara

Damn...well, here's hoping/believing that adulthood has raised your standards on how you should treat yourself & be treated in return. A slightly heart-wrenching, yet deeply reflective set of lines. Well done.
