Cashmere Wishes

You waited for this moment, As if you were an incomplete salutation You waited for confessional breaths to alleviate this finite evening Missing its constellations You wept for their sunflower touch. A touch to engorge the gaps of your imprinted thumb With honeysuckle madness Dry Another cashmere moistened parable Hungering for ink-plated resolutions You waited for their Haiku smile. A smile condoning resilient waterfalls Unto ocean’s distant memory Aching for risky walks above coal-ridden tomorrows No forest green pupils observing The hindrance of time You wished upon wishes For blanketed convenance to warm aspiring, French kiss upon promised morn You wrestled with downward spirals, Uplifting loneliness from Heaven’s chasm Lost Enough Regurgitated sobs reserved under no-name invitations But, I... …I was h e r e. Okay, this one is going to my faves. The intensity of emotion in this poem is staggering. "Aching for risky walks above coal-ridden tomorrows"... Just, wow. And that ending. Man, I missed reading your stuff.

It's hard to describe your style of writing... it's just... Y O U ... lol. It's like a rambling roller coaster ride, where I have no idea where it's going... and I love it. "You waited for their Haiku smile" Ha! <<< my favorite line!

Again, a gem.. so many ways to read into your thoughts. This could be a longing poem of unrequited love, but in my warped imagination, it seemed a way we all pine for accolades, which some of us are too ashamed to acknowledge, even willing to admit. Having our poetry read with appreciation.we all are here for the purpose of being noticed (egos intact, breathlessly waiting).... I will admit the disappointment often felt when one doesn't "get" my own or feel the emotion that I felt while writing.

Yes, it can be disappointing. But, it only takes 1 person to "get" it, as you say. Then, things just make sense again and you attain that reassurance. :)

Fantastic piece, Drake! Haven't been able to read a lot of poems on the site lately due to school work and things like that, but so glad I was able to read this poem. These lines just bite - ex: "Regurgitated sobs reserved under no-name invitations"..that's a powerful one. Your visuals you implement along with adjectives like "Haiku smiles" just enhance the experience for the reader. Sight and touch and deep loneliness can be clearly felt throughout, at least for me. ---
