Raining cats and dogs, we didn’t want to get wet through We dashed to the bus stop, to shelter as you do There we huddled under the shelter as a cosy retreat But a storm was brewing right under our feet A lady held her umbrella up to protect her head It was dry under the shelter but still she went ahead She was twirling it round and poked a man in the eye He wasn’t going to let this selfish action pass him by He asked her very nicely to put the umbrella down She got VERY irate and started to shout and frown Soon expletives were flying- we moved out of the way She cursed in Italian, we could understand what she did say Umbrellas started flying- it turned into quite a fight They were whacking each other with all their might Suddenly a huge wave broke from the sea shore We jumped out of the way to avoid any more But the fight it continued and spilled on to the street The words that were flying I could never repeat! It was such a spectacle, everyone was staring The foul mouth woman retreated but continued swearing All she needed to have done was put her umbrella down Sadly in reality she became the talk of the town. A true event which happened on 1st November 2nd November 2015

Wow, what a story...since you lead on with cats and dogs at the beginning, was that a hint as to what was to become?

They sure fought like cat and dog David and they were mature people - such a pity she simply couldn't have put her umbrella down and apologised in the first place:-( hugs jan xx

So disturbing but amusing at the same time. One has to take under consideration the Italian temperament and the Mediterranean temperament in general in order to get the full picture! Jan, you have done an absolutely incredible work, painting minute by minute your Malta canvas! Excellent! You should start writing for a Magazine or something like that, it will be a success! A seven from me!

G'day Jan... bus stop rage. Crikey Jan; those road ragers driving by must have enjoyed this allowing them a minute from cursing other motorists - needed to be logged and you wrote it well - Lindsay

The taxi drivers here seem a bit manic but in general all the drivers we saw were very courteous:-) Just be wary of women with brollies lol :-) hugs jan xx

This was quite funny dear Jan just as Andrea has said, but sad to say it happens a great deal in big cities. Went to visit my sis a month ago and near one of the lights a man in a vehicle stopped to close to another ones car. Talk about road rage. they were shouting and saying blasphemy to each other and neither one could stop. No wonder there is so much non-ending violence going on in the world. Sorry for talking and saying so much. Great poem Jan.... hugs Theresa

Thanks Theresa - the sad thing is all she needed to do was apologise and put the umbrella down - there was no need for it to be up under the shelter:-( hugs jan xx

Did it happen where you were, Jan? Or back in England? Nicely done, taking something in the news and replaying it with rhyme! I enjoyed this one.

I kept at a safe distance Tim - one of the funniest bit was when her umbrella turned inside out in the shelter - this made her even more irate - his brolly was closed - so she closed hers and they used them like light sabers to hit each other - was sad to see two grown ups acting so badly:-(I had my sandals on so no rain dance for me lol :-) hugs jan xx
