Black Ink

See me in the shadows I'm drowning in black ink Slipping beneath the surface Darkness informs the way I think Within, a perverse pleasure The tattooing of my mind Words are my she devil Her beauty makes me blind She causes skin to tingle Each word her form revealed I reach and want to touch her Yet if I do my fate is sealed For the current of my mind It travels and it flows Carried down her river Within this book that I have chose So I choose to close the cover Seal the pages of this book I know you want to read it But please I pray don't look For she is a temptress A devil in disguise She'll sap away your passion You'll drown, within her lies

Richard, this was a tough one for me. This is one of those contest, I would have given 3 first placements...LOL. :) The title was the tint of it all. I think I can actually find logic in your imagination. Congratulations on your awesome win, stop by and share a little smile on my blog, "FEED ME." ----"happy holidays" Always & Forever ~LINDA~

So creative. Words are blessings, temptations, beauty, ugliness, salvation. Like you said towards the end of the poem, we choose, which books to open, which ones to close.

I have been away for my uncle's funeral in Florida (the one I wrote about in Wordless Memories) I am picking a couple of poets a day to catch up on all their wonderful words I missed. Today I am off to visit someone else. Be back to you in a few.

I read this before, but didn't post a comment. Came back for another read...Yes...There is temptation in words...at times even stronger than that in images, for the words produce the images and they suit our fancy. Powerful write, Richard.

Good morning, I meant good evening. You speak the truth, sometimes the mind creates images that the author never meant to convey. The seeds of our destruction often lay within our hearts and the words sometimes cause them to germinate.

Now this is good gothic mystery from the heart Richard. Yes, journey if you dare, only the brave in their passion and faith survive and flourish in the Temptress' song of love. I'm Faving this! There is Light in her. Wonderful flow of emotion Richard. J.A.B.

Who could ever resist the temptation of creative writing, even when one knows how close he may come to a conflict with himself! A profound and inspiring piece if one goes behind the shadows the ink leaves on the soul! Excellent, a seven, mon ami Richard!

Richard, I dropped by to check out your latest. I made you one of my FAVs. This is indeed a quite remarkable write. With your imagery and words you do give definite pause to ponder concerning the mind and the soul and that attendant dynamic tension which are resultant and may flavor how we interpret events and things in words and ideas and how they are used. I connect with your write here because I am a very visual person and I sense words and images simultaneously. This one's a "7". Best! Gary

Very interesting views you express here Richard. Are our thoughts our very own, or are they maneuvered by others, false or artificial? are we strong enough to stick to our ideals, or do we give in to please others? are our words the true reflection of what we really feel inside?.......I'm still thinking! // paul

Re-reading this over with new insight. Makes more sense now. Yes... it is not what goes into our mouth that corrupts but what goes out if it. For the words are the voice-box of the heart... important lesson to what you should feed your thoughts.

Very interesting. You portray writing as the devil's temptation. But for me suppressed feelings are the real darkness. Dare I delve deeper inside your mind...?

I'm not thinking of surpressed feelings but rather the diet of the mind. What do we choose to feed it? Images and words have a huge impact on the direction our lives flow.
