Author's Notes: Please enjoy the metaphysical walk I have developed here into "Being Nowhere." If the reader has an open and adventurous mind, then methinks "Being Nowhere" is that somewhere he or she would like to momentarily visit and consider within the temporal confines of my latest couplet here. Make sure you can find your way back!! Cheers and Best!! (Gary Bateman - August 8, 2018) (Couplet)

Thematic Categories: allegory, dream, fantasy, introspection, journey, metaphor, and symbolism.

Being Nowhere A bizarre place to be, especially when you didn’t know you would be there. The metaphysical implication of your situation does seem incredible to others. If this is the case, nowhere is that space, that your mortal being and soul must fill. Space and time in the human endeavor are rife with inexplicable exceptions for sure. Finding yourself in this eerie realm of nowhere, by simple logic, bodes that you’re somewhere. If you did something naughty in another life, then perhaps nowhere is your karmic strife. If this isn’t the case, then by cosmic fate, you’ve unknowingly found yourself in another dimension. Methinks that praying to God should be of help; He knows that nowhere is somewhere out there! Ah, such a thinking person's dilemma this deliciously cerebral poem presents, Gary. You have a beautiful mind, brother. Elegant existential ink ruminations. Pure poetry. Love and smiles.

Hello Dear Nette, I really appreciate your read here, and I like the way in which you refer to a sense of surrender to Heaven's will. It's always worth remembering that we humans are finite beings, yet we are blessed with souls which are eternal in God's cosmic world. Best Always, Gary

Hello WW, Thanks for your read and great comment here!! The point you raise about Dante and his Inferno in relation to "Nowhere" is quite interesting. There are always many possibilities of this nature when one considers a concept as indeterminate as "Nowhere" appears to be. Cheers and Best, Gary

Life is a labyrinth of space and time that one could be easily lost without Ariadne's thread in this case God's guidance which becomes clearer to us through prayer! A very profound couplet that needs a deep analysis to clarify its meaning dear, Gary!

Hello Demetrios, Thanks for your read here and for your prescient analysis of my couplet here!! I wrote this one, as I plan to do with others, in order to get the reader to "think out of the box," so to speak. I always include some hints, at times, in write like this. We all do need Ariadne's thread at crucial metaphysical times. Godly prayer is also key. Appreciate your comments always!! Cheers and Best, Gary
