Author's Notes: This is a "Tanka" or Japanese verse form write on the subject: "Being." For this write, I've looked at "Being" from the standpoint of material and spiritual philosophy which delves into how we as human beings may choose to look at ourselves in relation to the greater Universe or Cosmos. Borrowing from Rene Descartes (the French philosopher and mathematician) and his Rationalism doctrine, I considered his oft quoted expression: "I think, therefore I am." And the next logical step: " I exist." The syllable count for this Tanka is: 5-7-5-7-7 (for a total of 31 syllables). (Gary Bateman - November 12, 2014) (Tanka poetic format)
