At the End of Day
Mid afternoon overhead sun retreats
heading west to bring comfort and solace
trail of red embers as horizons meet
darkening skies such a treat so flawless,
birds sing their evening songs and lullabies
daytime temperature becomes subdued
yet natures great beauty never denies
delightful images not devalued,
our exhausted day falls into slumber
she pulls her dark quilt studded with sequins
over her head with precision lumber
twilight fades as her next shift now begins,
dusk prevails now in her shadowy room
encourage plants, trees to exhale perfume.
